Acorn Antiques 2015 Mack & Mabel 2014 Masquerade 2013 Titanic The Musical 2012

Acorn Antiques 2015

It was Curtain Up! on a new era for Denmead Operatic Society as we presented "Acorn Antiques The Musical", by Victoria Wood - our first show under the new name of Curtain Up! Productions at the Petersfield Festival Hall from 25th-27th June 2015.

Mack & Mabel 2014

Mack and Mabel, the story of the relationship between early film producer Mack Sennett and his star Mabel Normand, was presented at the Petersfield Festival Hall from 15th-17th May 2014.

Masquerade 2013

This was an exciting new venture: presenting our very own show, written especially for us by Ian Clark, at the Park Community School in Havant from 29th May to 1st June 2013.

Titanic The Musical 2012

To mark the one hundredth anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, we presented this spectacular musical at the Park Community School from 6th-9th June 2012. It was a great success and we won a NODA Accolade of Excellence for the production.

2015 John Westbrook Award

As Hilary Westbrook, John's widow, could not attend any of the Acorn Antiques performances due to prior commitments, she delegated the nomination of the John Westbrook Award for 2015 to Val Sykes. Val chose to award the trophy to Mandy Clowes, saying: 'When there are not so many people on stage, each member of the supporting cast is clearly visible and it is extra important to give it everything. Mandy was always fully involved om each scene she was in, acting and reacting to others very well. I loved the three backing "beehive" singers number and she was clearly really enjoying it,'

Sponsored Bike Ride - 2015

Catherine Richards (Ryan's wife) recently completed a sponsored bike ride to raise money for Pudsey - the annual Children in Need Appeal. As one of a team of five, they completed an amazing 270 miles in 24 hours! that's the same as cycling from Portsmouth to Blackpool. So far they have raised a total of £1100!!

Catherine commented: "I can honestly say that our bike ride was one of the most painful things I have done. We completely underestimated the pain we would get in our bums and legs! Our target was to cycle 250 miles in 24 hours and the team of 5 managed 270 miles. One proud and happy moment when we completed it!"

Treasure Hunt - August 2015

Treasure Hunt Winners 2015

There was a very good turnout for our annual treasure hunt, superbly well organised by Kaye and Tony, which took place in Bosham on the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday weekend. We searched high and low in all the nooks and crannies around the waterfront, quay and church, ending up at the Berkley Arms for a pleasant drink while we marked the answer sheets. Mark, Peter and Duncan (pictured left) were relieved that Liz and Steve weren't able to attend this year, as they managed to hold on to the magnificent trophy for another year, beating Nadine, Sam and team by just one point!

Scenery Store Clear-out - 2015

One of the first tasks our new Chairman Hilary Glanville had to organise was a major sort out of the scenery store. A band of willing volunteers joined her on Sunday August 3rd and, thanks to their tremendous efforts, amazing results were achieved. Although we only managed to get the front room sorted, there is now a clear working area and we have visibility of all sets and scenery. Another working day will be announced later to finish the job by sorting out the props room.
